How to play Wiki by the Campfire

Setup

Shuffle the What deck and the How deck. At the start of each round, every player draws 5 What cards, then the player that most recently visited the website wikihow.com draws a How card and reads its content out loud.

Tutorial creation

The player that has drawn the How card starts playing, choosing a What card in their hand and using it as a reference to describe the first step of the tutorial. Moving clockwise, each player describes the next step of the tutorial, playing the What card that best fit the tutorial progression.
Players should take their turn in approximately 30 seconds (including choosing the What card and describing the tutorial step). The step of the tutorial should be described by the player who played the card, in the specific style of online tutorials, starting the sentence with “Step x” with x being the number of the step the player is currently describing.

Ending the turn

The turn ends in one of the following situations:

The current player is unable to describe the tutorial step in the allotted time for their turn. That player receives a Token as a penalty.

The proposed step is deemed incoherent in respect to the previous passages of the tutorial by all other players. The current player receives a Token as a penalty.

All players successfully played all the What cards in their hands. Players do not receive any Token.

The game ends when a player receives 3 penalties/dislike tokens. That player loses the game, thus making all other players winners.

How to play together
This set of rules is inclusive and gender-neutral, so the players will be addressed using “they/them” pronouns.
A recommendation before the game starts: please remember that the well-being and safety of people that sit around the same table is more important than one’s individual enjoyment. The experience won’t be truly positive unless it is so for every person involved.
Some of the questions are taken directly from the web (and they have been selected for their cringe effect), so feel free to skip or discard from the game any content you may find problematic or distressing. In case of doubts, pausing the game and asking is always the best option. In the “print and play” files you will find empty templates of the cards: with these you can create new or substitutive versions of the cards.
